A Soldier's Tale: Notron in Flames
Reviewer: joel.glass
Review Date: October 23, 2023
Review: There are some Star Wars stories which are amazing. There are some Star Wars stories which are terrible. And then are Star Wars stories like this, which leave no impact whatsoever. I give this a 3/5 because there isn't much to it.
Ahsoka
Title: Ahsoka
Reviewer: knoke5
Review Date: August 26, 2020
Review: A slow start but ultimately a good read! I must admit, I got worried when I started reading Star Wars: Ahsoka. It was a bit slow and not particularly interesting. But different pieces were slowly being added to the puzzle until halfway through suddenly eve... [continued]
Queen's Peril
Title: Queen's Peril
Reviewer: TStarnes
Review Date: June 16, 2020
Review: Watching the Phantom Meance, I would never have thought the Handmaidens would have turned out to be some of the most interesting pre-clone wars characters. As a companion to Queen’s Shadow, or vice versa, since that comes after, this book does a really good job of fleshi... [continued]
Splinter of the Mind's Eye
Reviewer: Smelly1
Review Date: May 24, 2020
Review: For having very litter SW content to pull from, this was a real darn good book! It really laid the foundation for our EU super well. We got kaiburr crystals, force healing , untrained Luke dipping into wells of natural power, duly arrogant imperials, Vader losing a limb, an... [continued]
The Courtship of Princess Leia
Reviewer: Smelly1
Review Date: April 27, 2020
Review: Picking up this book, I knew it would be a good one. How could a SW book be called "The Courtship of Princess Leia" and not be a few steps from perfect? Below, I put my "running thoughts" on the book; just a list of my musing as I went through. That is the bulk of this revi... [continued]
Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader
Reviewer: cavie
Review Date: April 3, 2020
Review: Not bad. My favorite parts of this novel were any interactions between vader and palpatine and also getting to hear Vader's inner thoughts. The interactions between Vader and Palpatine really helped to show the developing relationship, with Vader still trying to figure out... [continued]
Labyrinth of Evil
Reviewer: cavie
Review Date: December 23, 2019
Review: This is simply a must-read lead-in to Episode III, and is the beginning of the Dark Lord trilogy of novels, one of the best in Legends. We all know how Episode III begins (unless you haven't seen it then...spoiler), where Palpatine has been captured and is being held on Gr... [continued]
The Adventures of Lanoree Brock, Je'daii Ranger
Reviewer: ThisCurtis
Review Date: August 30, 2019
Review: This will be a very short and bare review. There isn't much here to review. What we have is a brief, and I mean very brief, audio log of Lanoree's thoughts during the Into the Void novel. I don't think it was necessary to have it published. Don't get me wrong, I love any an... [continued]
War Portrait: Boonta the Hutt
Reviewer: lambrinibudget
Review Date: August 30, 2019
Review: Not really a story, more a short blurp. But adds some nice historical and cultural depth to the Hutts.
A Soldier's Tale: Notron in Flames
Reviewer: lambrinibudget
Review Date: August 30, 2019
Review: This is difficult to rate and review because it's so very short. I like where the idea came from, epic poems of our real history. It's a little difficult to understand which I think is intentional and adds to it's "ancient text" feeling. Worth the read if you have the book,... [continued]
Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void
Reviewer: ThisCurtis
Review Date: August 30, 2019
Review: If someone were to start Legends for the first time and decided to read in chronological order, this would be the first Star Wars novel they would ever read. And, objectively, it is weak. Now, that is completely Into the Void's fault. From what I've read, this was supposed... [continued]
Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm #1
Reviewer: ThisCurtis
Review Date: August 11, 2019
Review: This comic issue had a lot to live up to upon its release. It would be our first TRUE glimpse into the beginnings of the Jedi. I thought that in terms of a visual aesthetic, it conveyed that feeling of "ancientness," but I do have a few gripes. Why does everyone have blaste... [continued]
A Soldier's Tale: Notron in Flames
Reviewer: ThisCurtis
Review Date: June 4, 2019
Review: There is not much meat to this “short story.” I’d consider it more of a poem. And the fact that is a poem, like Beowulf or the Epic of Gilgamesh, is utterly fantastic! If you have any interest in poetry or ancient literature, then I definitely recommend this to you. I... [continued]
Republic Commando: Triple Zero
Reviewer: waden34
Review Date: April 5, 2019
Review: If I could give this 2.5 stars I would. The beginning was very hard for me to follow. So many characters that I didn't remember from the first book (which I didn't really like) along with a bunch of new ones we've never met before. This made it a slog to read until I fina... [continued]
Wild Space
Title: Wild Space

Review Date: November 30, 2018
Review: The basic story of this book was fairly entertaining. Unfortunately, the execution was not very well done. Jedi are spread thin so when a rumor about the Sith comes in, Obi-Wan and Bail Organa go traipsing across the galaxy to see what's happening. Anakin is busy saving th... [continued]
Jedi Trial
Title: Jedi Trial

Review Date: August 8, 2018
Review: This was a truly awful book. The writing was worse than most fan fiction I've read. There is absolutely no characterization to be had at all. Characters we know act in ways they wouldn't, and new characters are so incredibly bland and boring that I was hoping they'd all ge... [continued]
The Cestus Deception
Reviewer: waden34
Review Date: July 11, 2018
Review: At first I was mildly intrigued by the depiction of the clone troopers' training. Unfortunately that was short lived and the rest of the book happened. Anakin is sidelined almost immediately for no discernible reason. I guess Barnes didn't want to write him? Obi-Wan's chara... [continued]
Lost Tribe of the Sith: Skyborn

Review Date: October 9, 2017
Review: In the end of the series: "The Fall of the Sith Empire." See what happens to the remaining Sith fleet and Naga Sadow. What happens to Jori and Gav Daragon, and the new start the republic takes post-war. This is the last issue in this series and is probably the best of all 5... [continued]
The Despotica, Part II: The Pirate Prince
Reviewer: SantaTM
Review Date: July 25, 2017
Review: (SPOILERS) This play is written by "Lyechusas" and it is about Xim's rise to power by killing his brothers and his father. He takes Indrexu as his lover after stabbing his father. It is an interesting read because it is in the play format. I would only read if you are inter... [continued]
The Despotica, Part I: Selections
Reviewer: SantaTM
Review Date: July 25, 2017
Review: The first part in the Despotica is all about Xim the Despot and his conflict with the Hutts. It covers three main battles that are fought between Xim and Kossak of the Hutts. It is a great history in the depths of the Star Wars galaxy and it has a great writing style as wel... [continued]
Dawn of the Jedi: Force War #5
Reviewer: SantaTM
Review Date: July 21, 2017
Review: This issue is about the end of the Force war that has been brought onto Tython by the Rakatan Infinite Empire. This is a good ending to the short series, but it was somewhat predictable. Predor Skalnas's goal is to reach the infinity gate and travel every world in the galax... [continued]
Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm #5
Reviewer: SantaTM
Review Date: May 15, 2017
Review: This is the last book in the Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm comic series. It is very interesting, during the comic it shows what happens to Xesh, the Jedaii who fight him and the planet under the power of the Force Storm. It introduces several characters like Calleh a Jedaii... [continued]
Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm #4

Review: I thought this was very interesting, it gives a great backstory to Xesh and his character. It also dives into the force and illusions and its power in the Abyss of Ruh.
Jedi Quest: The Master of Disguise
Reviewer: waden34
Review Date: March 16, 2017
Review: The story was nothing special. It wasn't bad, just average. Overall, it was nothing we haven't read previously. It did set up some plot points for future novels, so hopefully those will pan out well. The characters were very well done however. Jude has a gift for writing A... [continued]
Outbound Flight

Review Date: March 14, 2017
Review: I was introduced to the Expanded Universe of Star Wars in the early 90s when my cousin gave me a copy of Heir to the Empire for Christmas. Zahn's writing drew my in to the universe and I've been stuck there ever since. Outbound Flight does a great job of telling the story... [continued]
Jedi Quest: The Trail of the Jedi
Reviewer: waden34

Review: I really enjoyed the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan in this book. The conflicts were very real and engaging. Both Master and Padawan grew more in this short book than they did in any of the prequel movies...
Jedi Apprentice Special Edition 2: The Followers
Reviewer: waden34
Review Date: March 12, 2017
Review: This was a pretty good end to the Jedi Apprentice series. The relationships between Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan and Anakin were well done. There was more development here than in most of the other 18 books combined. This book did leave a lot of unanswered questions, but... [continued]
Rogue Planet

Review Date: March 12, 2017
Review: I have never been a fan of Greg Bear's writing style. His descriptions are often too detailed and cause my mind to wander out of boredom. That said, there isn't a lot else to like in this book. The whole idea of Sekot was hard to believe and even harder to understand (I'm... [continued]
Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter
Reviewer: TStarnes
Review Date: March 9, 2017
Review: The biggest problem with Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter is nothing in the book matters. This book changes nothing in the larger universe, has no lasting affect after the end of the novel, and adds nothing to the universe. While that would keep it from being great, whe... [continued]

Review Date: December 19, 2016
Review: I remember as a twelve year old going to see Jurassic Park, a film for me which must have been the same as Star Wars had been a generation before. There was so much hype around that film that no matter how fantastic it was, it was never going to live up to that expectation.... [continued]
Princess Leia #5
Reviewer: Drax
Review Date: February 4, 2016
Review: I am no writer, but from a long time reader point of view, I can only imagine that the climax of a story is the hardest thing to write. Or at least the hardest part to get right. It seems even worse when you consider comics because, unless they are rewarded with a double-si... [continued]
Star Wars (2015) #1
Reviewer: Lindsay Young
Review Date: February 3, 2016
Review: Star Wars #1 arrives in time to promote the upcoming sequel series, but this comic is all about the original series. Taking place chronolocially between A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back, Skywalker Strikes is the first ‘book’ in a new series aiming to bridge some of th... [continued]
Obi-Wan & Anakin #1
Reviewer: TStarnes
Review Date: January 9, 2016
Review: I have to admit, I was really happy when I saw this book announced. One of the things I liked about what is now the Legend line is how fleshed out all the parts between the movies were and the context it helps give to what we saw in the movies. So far with the New EU, eve... [continued]

Review: Yes it’s a cliché but it’s also a truism (like many clichés are): you can’t go home again. Sure there’s a lot which is familiar but at the end of the day, like the man said, you’re not the same person and it’s not the same river. That won’t ever stop anyone from trying, es... [continued]

Review Date: April 5, 2015
Review: This was a great episode, and it did not have to do with the overall idea of stopping the empire. This was an episode about a simple supplies run or, to make it sound even simpler, grocery shopping. And the two stars of the episode are Ezra and Zeb. It would seem the crew o... [continued]
Star Wars (2015) #15

Review Date: February 7, 2015
Review: I generally hate filler books. Hate them with an absolute passion. I hate the reserve writers, the substitute artists and the fact the issues have no meaning or point beyond cheaply filling another slot while the main contributors catch up. Well this is none of those thing... [continued]

Review: So here we are at Star Wars Rebels, the first video entry into the new Star Wars EU. So let’s see where to begin. It has been 6 years since we left Kanan and Hera at the end of A New Dawn, and apparently they have been busy. But that is jumping ahead a little. We really st... [continued]
